Who's Is This For?
This is primarily aimed at beginners or aspiring amateurs who prefer personal tuition, and wish to focus on topics designed specifically to their needs.
When I first started out seriously this is what I did, hired a personal tutor. My interest at that time was ‘Seascapes’ and we spent the whole day working around Dunstanburgh Castle. Starting from one angle in the morning and followed the light to the other side in the afternoon. I learnt so much that day. More so from the practical element of just taking photo’s and have someone on hand to critique.
That’s what I can offer. Guidance, advice & knowledge.
How Does This Work?
Pretty simple really. I’ll ask you for some information such as your level of understanding in photography and what you would like to work on. We then agree a place, date and time and i will guide you from there.
For example, a recent client wanted to practice waterfall photography. They were an amateur that had a basic understanding of their camera and wanted to learn how to create the silky waterfall look. I suggested a few waterfalls and we decided on the one above, Scaleber Force in the Yorkshire Dales.
We spent the day working on different compositions whilst talking through settings etc. The client left happy with a bundle of images capturing the beauty of waterfalls.
I spend more time on the practical than classroom theory. I personally think this approach helps you understand the fundamentals of photography so much more through practice. It enhances your spatial intelligence which i think in turn improves your ability to see compositions better and, in turn, will improve your photography.
How Much Does It Cost?
I am based in Newcastle and will travel to meet you at a location of your choice or, by my suggestion depending on what you would like to focus on. I can travel as far North as Holy Island, as far West as the Lake District and as far South as the Yorkshire Dales.
If you would like me to work with you outside of these areas then please feel to get in touch for approximate additional costs.
I charge £150 for One-To-One Tuition and £225 for One-To-Two Tuition. Both are for a full day up to 6-8 hrs depending on location.
